I came to this country as an immigrant child with my two sisters and my parents. We had one small canvas bag that contained one change of clothes for each of us. After going through customs, and hours of questioning, we received $20 from Catholic charities and a pat on the back saying good luck. I know 1st hand the struggles people are faced with. We came to this great country for a better life and that’s what we got.

I have spent the majority of my life trying to bring joy and unity through music. I’ve also been fortunate enough to be able to help communities through charitable events such as food drives, coat drives, toy drives etc. Working with the Boys and Girls Club in the 80’s and other organizations throughout the years, led to establishing the Julian Jumpin Perez Foundation in 2019. Our goal for the foundation has been to provide assistance to families, individuals and organizations that need our help.

Chicago has given me so much and now it’s time to try and pay it back. As Alderman, I will have many resources at my disposal to help strengthen our neighborhoods and UNITE OUR COMMUNITY!
