We all deserve to live in a safe community. Crime has spiraled out of control throughout the current Alderman’s 13 years in office and he has done very little to keep our neighborhoods safe. As Alderman, Julian will advocate for: • Community-based policing that brings together law enforcement, neighborhood organizations and the community to create the positive change that is needed in our Ward. • Tougher and sensible gun control measures that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and holds them accountable for their actions. • Providing our young people with the guidance and opportunities to succeed in life. This includes after school programs, academic mentorship, art and music programs, vocational training and job placement.

Our Ward is in desperate need of balanced economic development. It is painfully apparent that the commercial corridors of Division Street and North Avenue have been overlooked and utterly neglected. As an entrepreneur with a keen business mindset and firsthand knowledge of how to build businesses from the ground up, Julian will provide the necessary leadership and guidance to bring revenue, opportunity and vibrancy to our community. In order to achieve these desperately needed changes, Julian is committed to: • Creating new business opportunities that will bring jobs to our Ward • Working with current business owners to help maximize their growth • Developing a web-based and social media platform to promote all the businesses in the Ward

Julian believes that we can have better neighborhoods while keeping the same neighbors, and he understands that everyone deserves a decent place to live. That is why, as Alderman, he will make sure residents have access to the City’s affordable housing programs and resources to keep our neighborhoods affordable. Julian will pursue a responsible, balanced approach to economic growth and development. He will work with 26th Ward residents and community groups to select development projects that will both benefit our neighborhoods and that include affordable housing options. Julian believes that economic growth can facilitate the creation of affordable workforce housing by requiring that developers provide the maximum number of affordable units on-site rather than buying out of their obligation. Julian will promote affordable homeownership opportunities by converting empty, city-owned lots to new affordable homes. Additionally, he will work to ensure that previously-approved affordable housing projects in the 26th Ward will be brought to fruition. Through these and other proactive efforts, he will work to diminish the economic pressures that can lead to displacement.

One of the most essential responsibilities of any alderman is to ensure city services are timely and efficiently delivered to the constituents of the Ward. The current alderman has consistently failed to address the following issues: • Garbage removal • Rat infestation • Street cleaning • Graffiti removal • Hazardous sidewalks • Street and alley potholes • Street light outages • Snow removal • Tree trimming • Bicycle paths • Littered public walkways, streets, alleys and parks As Alderman, Julian will spearhead an effort to clean up the ward and provide solutions to the problems that have gone unattended due to the lack of leadership in our community.

“One Community for All” starts with neighbors engaging and looking out for each other. We can acheive “One Community for All” by bringing our community together with various programs throughout our ward. We have great parks and facilities throughout the 26th Ward and we need to take advantage of them by creating programs that reach across age, race, religious and gender lines. Our kids need safe options to socialize when they get out of school. That is why Julian will support: • Mentoring and creative youth programs that will open doors for future success and establish a positive influence through arts, music and sports • Vocational programs that will prepare our young adults for careers and opportunities that are alternatives to four-year colleges • Continuing education programs that provide childcare to help our single parents get the degrees they need to elevate their careers and help provide for their families’ future • Programs that will address the diverse needs and interests of our Senior Citizens. These programs will provide health care, mental health, financial literacy, property tax appeal and socialization services that will treat our Seniors with dignity and respect. Our seniors deserve our love and support, and with Julian as Alderman, they will get it!

Our kids deserve a world-class education and we owe it to them to invest in our public schools, not just with dollars but with effort. The problems at our schools shouldn’t be laid at the feet of teachers who work hard every day to educate our kids. As Alderman, Julian will work to build stronger relationships between teachers, principals and parents to ensure better outcomes for our kids and our community while addressing the individual needs that each school faces.

Our Ward is in desperate need of care and attention! Our streets and parks need more attention when it comes to cleanliness, functionality and repairs. We need to get our alleys, garbage and rat infestation under control. Our business corridors have too many empty, unmaintained store fronts and dirty empty lots that are an eye sore to all. As Alderman, Julian will work with building and land owners to ensure that they maintain their properties.

The key to success in our Ward is to have proactive, accessible leadership. As Alderman, Julian will have a hands-on approach and active presence in our community. He will work directly with law enforcement, community leaders, schools, churches, senior homes and business owners to improve our neighborhoods. Julian will bring true leadership to the 26th Ward and listen to every resident’s concern not just a chosen few.

Julian has a deep and heartfelt compassion for the homeless. While allowing them to live in a park may seem like a temporary solution, Julian recognizes that it's not a truly compassionate one. He firmly believes that everyone has the fundamental human right to safe and stable housing, as well as access to supportive social services that can help them improve their lives. With this in mind, Julian is committed to working closely with the City Department of Human Services and other social service organizations to provide the unhoused residents of Humboldt Park with the wrap-around services and housing options that they deserve. By taking a compassionate and collaborative approach, Julian is confident that we can make a real difference in the lives of these vulnerable community members.
